As people age with their Kids gone they like carpet because it is warmer in the winter and MUCH less slippery so they won't fall as easily and break a hip. Bathrooms with slate floors are cold and slippery too. Warmth and safety means carpet. Getting them cleaned yearly is cheaply done.
